Man sentenced to life in jail for murder of his wife

A married couple is locked up for life after a judge found them guilty of murdering their first wife and dumping her body in a river.

James and Helen Riechman, 30, had been married for 14 years and were expecting their first child when they committed the heinous crime, according to the Sun Herald.

They admitted their act of revenge, saying they were jealous she was pregnant and had changed jobs.

The couple were given 10-and-a-half years each, with no chance of parole if they were caught again.

A witness told police she had seen the couple walking along the beach near their apartment in the village of Barra Rua with Maria, then 23 months pregnant.

Mr Riechman, of Sandhurst, Somerset, was born to a divorced mother in 1993.
